Title: Designer Hydrogels for 3D Cell Culture and Bioprinting

Biography:
Elia Lopez-Bernardo holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. Currently working as a Business Development Manager at Biogelx, where she uses her understanding of science for the development of products through relationships with cell biology partners and other academic and industry collaborators. Biogelx commercializes a range of novel patented 3D peptide hydrogels. These materials can be chemically and mechanically modified to mimic different tissues and provide a cost effective, animal-free 3D matrix to support a range of exciting high growth applications including 3D Bioprinting, Tissue Engineering & Regeneration, In-Vitro Models for Cancer Drug Screening, Stem Cell Research and others.
Abstract:
Biogelx designs and supplies tuneable peptide hydrogels, offering artificial tissue environments for a range of cell culture applications. These highly tuneable, cell-matched biomaterials are three dimensional (3D), 99% water and have the same nanoscale matrix structure as human tissue, tuned to meet the needs of any given cell type. The ability to precisely control the mechanical and chemical properties of these hydrogels is creating new opportunities in the fields of stem cell research, 3D cell culture, lab on a chip, cell-based assays, cancer biology, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and 3D bioprinting.
